The “Online Detecting System for Glass Tube Wall Thickness” is an intelligent precision detecting instrument which incorporates laser, precision machinery and computer technologies, and is designed to conduct non-contact high-precision detection and quality control of wall thickness for online glass tubes. The system mainly consists of laser detector, display control host, glass tube rotary mechanism, marking mechanism, and large-screen display, etc.The system adopts an innovative special design of dual-light-path system, i.e. two laser beams concurrently shoot along the direction of glass tube generatrix in orthogonal angle. Based on the direct ratio relationship of the clearance between the two reflected rays from the inner and outer surfaces of the glass tube wall to the wall thickness, the Charge Couple Device (CCD) detects the clearance and thus the equipment finishes the detection of glass tube wall thickness. The dual-light-path detection method can effectively offset the measurement error caused by the vibration of glass tube and parallelism difference between the top and bottom surfaces of the tube wall. The design of glass tube rotary mechanism realizes online peripheral continuous measurement of wall thickness of the detected glass tubes. As for the ultra-different tubes, the host will drive the marking mechanism to mark one end of the glass tube, convenient for sorting in subsequent processes and thus meeting the online control requirements of production quality.
